“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant.”
—Albert Einstein
Psychiatrist Iain McGilchrist speaks on the divided brain, while superlative artist Conánn Fitzpatrick keeps up beautifully:
The entire lecture can be found on the website of the RSA—The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce—where I believe I’ll be spending a lot of time in the future.
And, yeah, there’s an app for that.
Incredible! Thanks for the link you librarian you.
Any time, CJ! I’m glad you like it!
Great stuff. It enters into the conflict between mysticism and rationality, religion and science. I saw a movie which included interviews and experiments done with people with split brain surgery. There are significant differences between the ways that each hemisphere functions. The original surgeries were done to correct intractable epilepsy. New drugs made the surgery unnecessary. Perhaps that is why we don’t hear so much about the subject anymore.
I knew you would find it interesting, Dad—if you hadn’t commented, I would have sent you a link!
This is fantastic. Thank you.
You’re welcome, MSB! There are several others like this in the series, too.
Oh, I love these. I have one about education posted on my Facebook wall.
I just discovered them!
It was tough deciding between this one and the one about Darwinian beauty. I’ll have to check out the education vid.
