Yes, the following video is a commercial.
It is possibly the best commercial I have ever seen—but not necessarily for the product it’s supposedly selling.
Oddly, that masterful stroke is probably going to sell tons of that product, but I don’t care. I do care a hell of a lot about what the rest of the ad is promoting, though.
And while I’d like to think that the company had altruistic motives as well as commercial ones, it doesn’t really matter.
What matters is—no, here, see for yourself:
At the very least, the advertising team that created “The Reader” deserves all the awards and owes me a box of tissues.
