Last week, Jack asked if he could take a pic of Dennis, for reasons that the eight-sentence limit didn’t make clear.

We’re skipping over a couple of sentences that inform us that Jack and Dennis are cousins, and that the Riordan family has been blessed with dimples, as long as they show teeth when they smile.

Swimsation

“Yeah, this’ll work.”

Dennis scowled and sat up. “I told you, I’m not modeling for SwimSation Gear.”

“I know. And even though I don’t understand how you could deny the agency, and by extension the legacy of your family, a slam dunk OBIE award, I respect your decision.  Besides, we can’t afford to lose you—no one else in this place works through lunch.”

“So what’s going on?”

“Kirsten’s sister is sending wedding prep photos to their mother and I thought she might want to complete the set of groomsmen.”

And it’s also a way to make sure Viv knows he wasn’t part of not-Renee’s unprovoked cattiness a few hours earlier.

I know what I said about my guilt over objectifying my characters, but I’d just like to take a moment and savor the idea of an outdoor swimwear campaign featuring Dennis . . . in swimwear . . .

Thanks.  I needed that.

    • David ditched him for Kirsten, or he probably would’ve gone out for lunch, but, yeah, he gets lost in his work sometimes—as do we all. 🙂

  1. SwimSation? Oh, my, that name is cheesy and perfect.

I wonder if Dennis would prefer being a model over being a groomsman in *that* wedding, which promises to be entertainingly horrifying. I notice he hasn’t been given a chance to protest, yet.

    • It took me three tries to come up with something that hadn’t already been used. I’m crossing my fingers it stays that way!

Dennis likes weddings and groomsmen don’t have to do much, anyway. He’ll be fine. 🙂

  2. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of wedding prep photos, though admittedly I’d far prefer a very small, modest, inexpensive ceremony if I ever get engaged again and actually go through with wedding planning and an actual wedding next time.

    • They do exist, especially in these days of ubiquitous camera-phones—but in this case, the mother of the bride is in Florida and doesn’t want to miss a single second. So she’s making Viv record it all. 😀

My second wedding is going to be far different from my first. I should probably mention this to my husband. 😉
